What's Happening ?

A big welcome all our new scouts.  We hope to have many adventures and fun times with you all.

Pack 69 continues to be an extremely busy Cub Scout group.  We went for the usual train ride at Christmas at the Tioga Depot and Santa hopped on when the train was turning for the trip back.  He later visited us at the Kiwanis Building while we were doing art work and finishing our cookie jars for the Riverside Caroling project.

In January we went to the Winteree and had a great time at Camp Gorton where Ranger Jim was in charge.  The three man sling shot was especially challenging.

In February we went to the Mall Show at the Arnot Mall.  That is always a learning experience.  We won the second place trophy for our camp site  display. Our Blue and Gold dinner is held  at the Covington Community Center. We have a great feast and various awards, patches and pins are given to our scouts at the ceremony..

In March we went to the Jackals game on the 11th some of us sleep there and  played on the ice.  (Bring your skates and a helmet.) On the 19th we had our Pine Wood Race Car Dery. There was lots of food and we ahd a  cake auction afterwards.

April was quieter.

May brought the Coal Festival, Memorial Day and lastly our long weekend trip. We've camped as far away as Virginia but this year we were looking at the Great Lakes as well as Daniel Boone's Homestead. We finally decided to camp instead at Hills Creek State Park and visit local spots of interest and do some hiking and fishing.

June was the time for Crossover.  A  graduation day for moving up in rank or on to other levels of boy scouts.  Our second year Webelos were awarded the International Conservation Badge.

In July we visited the Steamtown Historic Train Depot and went for a ride on a train.  We also went deep into the earth in the Lackawana Coal Mine.

For August we began building bat houses and are planning to paint some outdoor items at the VFW.

In September we made benches for the Island Park and finished the bat houses for other parks.  We also wrapped up our drive for collecting toys for the Ronald McDonald House in Danville.

October is the time for our Bike-a-Thon at the Island Park.

All this is in addition to our regular Pack / Den meetings.  Sounds good?  Visit and find out.
